Introduction...
Hi, my name is Tiffany, I am a psychic, healer, Tarot reader & teacher who is qualified in Reiki up to master level, I hold a certificate in counseling skills and diplomas in Tarot, Parapsychology, Hypnotherapy & Past Life Regression & have studied Astrology alongside.
My journey with the Tarot began at the age of four when I saw my mother’s Tarot cards lying on the living room floor, the pictures captivated me so much so I can still remember the impression it made upon me like it was yesterday.
Throughout my teenage years I suffered with depression and often turned to the Tarot for help but found that I actually became more and more obsessive and mentally imbalanced, this culminated at the age of nineteen when I saw something in the cards so disturbing I did not use them for three years... But people who knew I read kept asking me for readings so slowly I began to read again though something didn’t “feel right” to me, so I decided to do a diploma in Tarot and really educate myself in the field.
After the diploma I had the confidence to set up my own professional practice and through a culmination of all the above I found my understanding of what the Tarot was really about grow tremendously. At last it felt right, so what had shifted?
Well that is what this course is all about, helping people understand the true essence of a very misunderstood art.
If you want to learn about the history and academic side of the Tarot this is not the course for you, this course focuses on building your own individual relationship with the Tarot so you can use it for empowerment and healing of the self and others, for when it is properly understood and applied it can be an incredibly empowering development aid and healer, both for the self and others.
We will be achieving this through personal work and journeys with the Tarot, both in meditation and everyday life. As well as education of the Major and Minor Arcana and spreads, we will also be going into how to link in with your higher self and guides to gain clairvoyant information for the highest good of all and how to read in an ethically responsible fashion, as well as how to conduct yourself in difficult situations.
The aim of this course is to produce Tarot readers that will finally be able to give the Tarot the respect and understanding it deserves, thus empowering all who come into contact with it, you, the Tarot itself and the people you read for. The Tarot has had an undeservedly “bad” reputation for far too long and in this dawn of the new age it is time to set this straight for the good of the collective consciousness, this is my passion and I hope to ignite yours...
Misunderstanding of the Tarot
Prediction. When people talk about the Tarot it is automatically associated with prediction, but prediction is only the very surface of the Tarot and one many people get stuck on. They then find their “inner guidance” has become “stuck” outside of themselves in a place of the future, placing all their attention on the projected outcome, and becoming inpatient when it is not materialising, having more and more readings and feeling more and more disempowered. This is a classic example of “giving your power away to the Tarot”. Not that the Tarot wants it at all, the Tarot desperately wants to be understood and used correctly.
Correct understanding of the Tarot
The word “Tarot” actually means “Book of life”, so to see it just as a tool for prediction really is undermining it’s value, the Tarot has the power to help us really and truly understand life, every cycle, every step, and this is shown through the entire deck...
The Tarot Deck
For a pack of cards to be classed as Tarot they must conform to the structure of seventy eight cards, twenty-two cards which make up the Major Arcana ( major box of secrets) and a further fifty-six make up the Minor Arcana (minor box of secrets).
The Major Arcana shows the journey of every soul incarnated into “life” starting with The Fool and ending with The World, and therefore shows us the spiritual influences behind everyday life.
The Minor Arcana is split into four suits, not unlike playing cards, they compromise of Aces up to tens, and then the court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King). They show more personal influences of everyday life. For instance The Swords (spades) represent the element of air, which governs the intellect and mind. Cups (hearts) represent the element of water which governs the emotions. Wands (Diamonds) represent the element of fire, which governs the realm of action and creation, and Pentacles(Clubs) represent the element of earth which governs the material realm. I present them in this order because for something to come into existence it first has to appear as a thought which in turn stimulates an emotional response which then in turn stimulates action finally birthing something into manifestation.
It may help to understand the Major Arcana as the “Puppeteers” and the Minor Arcana as the “Puppets”
Introduction to the Major Arcana...
The Major Arcana shows the evolution of the soul through the initiation of life, below is a brief explanation that should be read before listening to The Fools Journey CD. But the actual CD will help the information really become one with you...
The journey starts with trump zero,The Fool, The Fool represents pure ignorance and potential, he is the child of the Tarot,
he sets out on his new life and firstly encounters trump number one, The Magician who teaches him about turning thought into manifestation thus creating independence.
He then comes across trump number two The High Priestess, who teaches him about the importance of listening to the quiet, still voice within. Moving on he meets trump number three, The Empress, the mother of the Tarot she shows him what can ripen in abundance when you have listened to the High Priestess.
In trump four he comes face to face with The Emporer, the father of the Tarot he teaches him about structure, rules and discipline. After his encounter with earthly discipline with the Emporer he comes into contact with trump number five the High Priest, who teaches him about manmade knowledge in the form of religion advice and education.
Moving on he meets trump number six: The Lovers where he feels the first stirrings of desire, temptation, and choice. This is the point of adolescence.
Next comes trump number seven: The Chariot, pulling us through the rocky transition from childhood to adulthood, it shows the Fool the challenging road of exploration but that success does not come to those who play it safe. Out of this experience he meets trump number eight: Strength, she has come to show him that real strength does not come from control but rather quiet inner determination.
Onto trump nine: The Hermit, the Fool is now nearing his end of his first cycle and coming into his rites of passage. The Hermit teaches The Fool that real knowledge comes from assimilating experience and that he must turn inward to assess where his actions have led him so far and what needs to change. This corresponds with The Saturn Return stage in life, which happens to us all around the age of 28, this is one of the most major astrological transits of our lives forcing us to let go of that which we have outgrown. The first cycle is then completed in trump number ten The Wheel of Fortune, showing The Fool that what has gone before has consequences in the form of Karma and change...
The first cycle of personal development is now complete and the development becomes more on a spiritual level, starting with trump eleven: Justice, further emphasising the laws of karma and fostering knowledge of fairness, honesty and integrity.
Then onto trump 12: The Hanged Man, showing the great power and growth that lies in voluntary sacrifice and in the ability to change your own perspective.
This lesson is greatly tested in trump 13: Death, which teaches The Fool one of the hardest but most powerful lessons of all....That everything in life is subject to change and we must learn to let go of what we love in order to evolve. The Fool is then rewarded in the next trump number 14: Temperance, which brings him to a new level of consciousness and peace.
This level is further developed in the next trump 15, The Devil, Lucifer the light bringer sheds light on his shadow sides and forces him to confront that which he likes to remain unaware of bringing great empowerment. This is often an uncomfortable stage as everything that once seemed okay no longer is which causes the inevitability of the next Trump.
Number 16 The Tower, the strike of enlightenment that blasts us out of our structured lives and into the unknown. But again after this hard rite of passage, he is again rewarded on the spiritual level by trump 17 the Star showing the beauty of pure potential and the creative power that lies within, that it is only us who limit ourselves and that now the sky is the limit.
These last three cards represent the astrological rite of passage known as the Uranus Opposition, happening to us all, around the age of forty, it is commonly termed as the mid life crisis, it is the other most significant transit in ones life, bringing awakening, followed by chaos and then greater peace and potential. However, times of pure potential incredible though they are, can be scary because of the lack of structure and it is only when The Fool has learnt to follow his inner guidance and feel his way through a place with little or no visibility that The Moon, trump number 18 goes down and The Sun, trump number 19 comes up bringing with it clarity, inspiration, creation and joy. This is then validated once again in the next card trump number 20 showing completion of the second cycle, the attainment of spiritual understanding in Judgment, signifying a heralding of a new dawn and the rebirth of the soul into trump number 21... The World showing a time of celebration in completeness and enlightenment, The Fool has arrived at his goal... But nothing stays the same, The World continues to revolve and now he has arrived he must be reborn from the world to go on yet another journey.........
The Fool
Take the Fool card out of your deck of cards and say hello,
What are your first impressions? Open your Tarot journal, write the heading The Fool and jot down the words that come to mind. Read the following only afterwards....
The Fool is ruled by zero, showing he is ruled by nothing, he has been born pure out of the cosmic egg, he is also known as The Child of the Tarot The Fool is ruled by the Astrological sign Aquarius, an air sign, it shows he is as free as the wind, planetary ruler is Uranus, showing the erratic, impulsive, inventive, original and sometimes eccentric Uraaniun nature of The Fool.
The animal that accompanies The Fool, usually a dog, symbolises primal natural instinct, it is pictured so that the animal could be urging him over the edge of the cliff or trying to stop him, therefore The Fool in a spread can mean anything from look before you leap, to take a risk, it really depends on the cards surrounding and what you feel it is saying at the time. The Rose he carries is white signifying purity, the background normally yellow, giving a happy-go-lucky feel. The bag he carries is his experience so far, but what is interesting is that it is at the end of a wand, wands are a common theme through the Tarot but what is different here is that the wand is black showing unawareness of the power he has, and that his experiences hang on the end of that awareness..... Seeming he is the child of the Tarot, the newborn, this could be interpretated as our karma from previous lives, or it could just mean lack of awareness, just like when we were all very young and all existed in our world was the present. It really is best not to learn meanings as the intellect can block your feelings, the best way to get to know the fool as with any card is to do the following meditation...
Get comfortable and the surroundings ready for meditation
Gateway meditation
Have the card in front of you and see yourself stepping into the card and entering the world of the fool Close your eyes, and let your imagination run away with you ......There is no pressure to get anything here, there is no right or wrong, it is an exploratory journey, even if you get nothing that is fine, just sink into the nothing and be..... Remember to step out of the card and sleep with it under you pillow, do you have any dreams, write them in your journal, even if they seem insignificant at this time Start to see the energy of the Fool in the world around you, the people you come across in your day, do any of them embody the archetype of The Fool? are you or anyone you know in situations that feels like it is governed by the energy of the Fool?
